the tribute

So in early 2003 Danny decides to try and collect material for another Juliana tribute CD and I figure that this time around I want to be on it too. I've always wanted to do a cover of Feelin' Massachusetts because I find it to be one of the earliest proofs of how unique a songwriter Juliana happens to be. It uses some straight forward chords but the way it's all put together is really special and inventive. My version ended up sounding something like this.

Just to fill you in on the real geeky stuff - the fast pattern in the intro actually happens to be a simplified version of the bass line for the first 2 verses and the first chorus, it's just transposed a couple of octaves and played at 32x normal speed. This way you can simply stop listening after 10 seconds and still say that you heard more than half the song - how convenient :)
